About the festival

Philadelphia Death and Arts Festival (PDAF) is a collaborative, artist-led experience, reimagining the culture of dying. The festival’s three themes– aging, dying, and grieving– are explored with performances, workshops, panels, and more.

The festival invites attendees into a vision of a culture of dying that is person-centered, community-oriented, and care driven.

PDAF takes place from May 29th - June 1st at the Laurel Hill Cemeteries:

Laurel Hill EAST: 3822 Ridge Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19132

Laurel Hill WEST: 225 Belmont Avenue, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004

GPS Directions: 340 Belmont Avenue, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004

We heartily encourage everyone to carpool where possible!

Tickets for performances are $10-40. Please buy tickets in advance.

Tickets for workshops are $0-$40. Please register in advance.

Panel discussions are free and open to the public.

In between these timed/ticketed events, there are reflection spaces, featuring:

  • A festival altar

  • A mandala

  • Places to reflect on the festival, on mortality, and on your grief.

  • Places to grab a snack, some sunscreen, and an advanced directive

  • Opportunities to connect with death professionals to ask practical questions or get support processing.
